Que Sera Sera & Post COVID-19

Que sera sera- whatever will be, will be is in all arguments, not a Christian or Muslim philosophy. It is a pessimist tradition practiced by people who seem to lost it in life and therefore, have deactivated every iota of faith in them. I mention faith because all world known religions majorly strive on faith; hope in the unforeseen; the belief that things would get better (or worst).
A lot of us seem to lose it, when we quickly surrender to human challenge(s). We enjoy following the “grace story” of people, but hate their “grass story.” Though for many people in the third world countries like Nigeria, it follows natural that a success story goes from “grass to grace.”
A humble beginning is not an end in itself, but a catalyst to posterity. This is where many a person gets it twisted. Most great men in the contemporary world had a difficult past. But the ability to get past these difficulties has placed them on the pedestal of success, where they have become footnotes to countless followers, who see them as “motivational.”
Covid-19 is one virus too many. The virus has devastated the world beyond human imagination. In spite of advancement in science and technology, the situation has rendered the entire human race helpless. Apart from the loss of loved ones and acquaintances, sources of livelihood have been battered.
All over the world, there is the exodus of people from destinations where they settled in search for greener pastures, to their nations/states. Some had picked up their living through businesses or jobs, but in one swoop, it is back to the basis. Many have returned to their ancestral homes with just a bag containing their personal effects. It must be emphasized that to some, the C-19 crisis is an opportunity for them to “make it in life.” But these ones are microscopic of world population.
So the fundamental question is- Where do we go from here? This question is however for those who will survive C-19. The dead do not talk. This is where I want to stress que sera sera-whatever be will be. Whoever applies this principle or philosophy in post C-19 is already a looser. Those who will pick their pieces together and start a new life will be winners. There are no other options other than these two-way; losers and winners.
At the end of C-19, only those who stand will be counted. While the crisis lasts, begin to fashion your survival strategies, like they say in warfare. It is a human calamity that will certainly go. Do not be counted as one who surrendered in defeatism- No. Calamities happened before in human history, Covid-19 might not be the worst of these.
I am not a Psychologist, but I know human emotions are robbed. This piece of information is designed to spur you on. Struggle is for the living; as long as you live, have faith; fight doggedly and win. Success is for those who always stood to be counted.
Never subscribe to que sera sera, look to the future; trample on the past and continue to live. Every human life is impactful. Do not contemplate ending your existence; others depend on you. Challenges are human attributes.
If you have moved from “grace to grass,” there are chances for your return back to “grace”. A cliché says: “life is not a bed of roses.” Another one says: “the only permanent thing in life is change.” I do not know how you are affected by Covid-19, but remember the super statement for goal getters is that “life (always) goes on.”
