A Makurdi high court judge Justice Theresa Igoche today the 20th day of July 2020 issued a bench warrant directing the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 4 Makurdi to arrest and compel the attendance of the Benue State Commissioner of Police to attend contempt proceedings before the Honourable Court.
The Order was made following an application in contempt proceedings filed by J.K Ishember Esq. on behalf of his client Arc. Samuel Hangeior Katsina who was awarded a piece of land by the court against the Benue State Police Command.
The Plaintiff approached the Court stating that the Police constructed a perimeter fence enclosing his four bedroom apartment situated at opposite Aper Aku Stadium Makurdi. The Chief Judge of the State Hon. Justice Aondover Kakaan had on the 10th day of May 2016 ordered the Police to demolish or remove the fence illegally constructed enclosing the plaintiff’s property. Nevertheless the Police failed to comply with the directives of the court hence the contempt proceedings.
Hearing in the contempt proceedings was adjourned to the 28th day of September 2020.
