NBA Exco pays courtesy call on JEDC

The Regional Manager, Jos Electricity Distribution Company, Joseph Kwaghgba has pledged his commitment to partner the Nigerian Bar Association NBA, Makurdi Branch to foster development in the area of electricity supply and consumption.
Mr Kwaghgba made this known in his office at JEDC Headquarters in Makurdi when he hosted the Makurdi NBA Exco.
In his address of welcome, Mr Joseph Kwaghgba thanked the Chairman and his Exco. He said JEDC as a company is guided by the provisions of the law and that their major regulator which is the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) also has laws that guide their activities.
Commending the NBA, Mr Kwaghgba said the visit by the NBA Exco will strengthen and encourage the company to continue to live up to its duties.
In his response, the NBA Chairman said the Bar will remain committed in upholding the rights of electricity consumers.
Earlier, Justin Gbagir presented issues to the Regional Manager and called for urgent attention.
The Chair further said the Exco is grateful to the Regional Manager for giving them the opportunity for an interactive session .
Some of the critical issues raised by the Chairman included promotion of the rule of Law, estimated billing among others. He said as a professional body, the NBA is the voice of the voiceless; defense of consumers remains one of the strategic priorities of his administration.
On the sidelines, the NBA EXCO proposed a two-day consumer assembly, as it looked forward to a partnership with JEDC.
NBA said the assembly will provide the company the opportunity to share it’s challenges with the consumers while the consumers will also understand their rights and obligations for effective relationship.
