The security situation in some parts of Jos and Bukuru metropolis of Plateau state is spiralling out of control.
The consequences or overreaching implications of the ongoing looting and vandalism of both public and private facilities in those areas is quite grave.
Unfortunatley, we have largely succeeded in demonising both the good and bad of members of our security agencies, to the extent that they now appear somewhat powerless, helpless and dislocated in the face of a growing threat to Peace as manifest in the deteriorating security situation facing us.
No doubt, this portends great danger for everyone.
Therefore, we call on our youth, community leaders and heads of development associations, trade and union leaders, religious and traditional leaders, civil society groups, CAN, JNI and other leaders of thoughts to as a matter of urgency speak out against the danger of walking on this short route to anarchy.
If we do not work together to stop this, then we all stand the risk of being consumed in a simmering inferno.
Yes, some mistakes may have been done in the past; yes, most of the issues in the heart of the protests and demonstrations in the past few weeks are legitimate, perhaps, things should have been done abit differently, yet, we cannot at this point loose our sanity and allow genuine and legitimate concerns to be hijacked by criminals, hoodlums, conflict merchants, religious and ethnic bigots as well as political contractors.
I urge us to reason together and rise up to the occasion to put a stop to this ill wind that means no good for anyone.
