BARR. (MRS), CAROLINE MBAFAN EKPENDU PhD. TAKES OATH AS FIRST FEMALE NOTARY PUBLIC IN BENUE
The occasion was administered by the Benue State Chief Judge, Justice Aondover Ka’kaan on 11th November, 2020 at the inner Chamber of the Chief Judge .
Justin Gbagir Esq, Chairman of NBA Makurdi Branch said before one is conferred with the Notary Public title, he or she must be a committed and dedicated lawyer; must be good and always uphold to the ethics of the legal profession.
Gbagir also said as the Branch Chairman of the NBA, he cannot recommend someone if they are not committed in line of professionalism. He added that being a Notary Public comes with a lot of responsibilities.
On her part, Dr. Ekpendu expressed excitement over her new position and thanked God for the feat.
She added that her new position is not just for the fun of it, but a position that calls for more hard work. She appreciated her children for the support.
Dr. Ekpendu further said in a short while, she will apply for the position of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, which is one of the privileges that comes with been a Notary Public.
She thanked those who made out time to attend the occasion, in spite of the short notice.
One of her children, Ogechi Iveren Tobias-Ekpendu expressed Joy and gratefulness to God and her siblings for the achievement attained by her Mother. She prayed God to continue to bless and uplift her in all areas of her professional and family life.
In a vote of thanks, Jude Terna Tobias-Ekpendu, thanked everyone for sharing in their moment of joy.
Nigerian Notaries are members of Nigerian Bar Association, with at least 7 years post bar by experience. Dr. Mrs. Ekpendu has put in more than 20 years in the legal profession so far. She is the first female to be so honoured in Makurdi Jurisdiction.
