As effort to deploy information and Communication Technology (ICT) in combating cases of SGBV, is the reason behind the ongoing capacity building on use of the “ConstantSee App” (an app for combating SGBV ,) for 24 personnel to serve as vanguards in their communities.
The innovative training, organised by Women’s Right to Education Programme (WREP), is supported by Extractive Global Programmatic Support (EGPS) and The World Bank.

During her opening remarks, Deputy Executive Director of WREP, Mrs. Violet Ochiekwu, explained that the training is a component of a 5-month project that is geared towards mitigating the impact of COVID-19 on women and children in Artisinal and Small Scale Mining in North Central Nigeria.
She elaborated further that, the training exercise would provide an easy-to-use GBV reporting platform and clean insights from the field data for further prevention, forecasting and understanding of GBV.

Mrs. Mavel Jimeh, the brain behind the the development of the ConstantSee App who is also a Safety Coach, explained that the app would aid victims to anonymously call for help in a fast, effective and discreet manner, provide easy access to reporting channels and help them find the help they need locally without rigor .
She said further that the App, which can be downloaded from apple play store or Google play store , would also provide a platform for co-ordinating the efforts of vanguards to keep their communities safe. Mrs. Jimeh also explained that it provides anonymity for vanguards to carry out their safeguarding duties without fear of victimization and it could be used in part of Nigeria.
Participants during the training including Orngu Anngu Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Benue State on Student Affairs all thanked the organizers and equally enjoined the trainees to put information learnt during the workshop to fight for those who are vulnerable in the society.
