2021 VIRAY FOOTBALL COMPETITION ENDS IN DAUDU
The Vision Reach the Youth Around You (VIRAY) 2021 Football competition went to a final show on Wednesday, 5th May, 2021 in Daudu, Guma Local government area of Benue State.
The facilitator and Vision Director, Pastor Paul Choombu JP, has instituted the yearly competition to help youth get out of social vices like cultism, drug abuse and criminality. The Man of God with Christ Faith Bible Church has been in the forefront of evangelism and humanitarian services.
The finals which was decided in Daudu saw Viper FC and Shinning Stars locked horns. The only goal of the match came in the 87th minute when Shinning Stars sealed victory to clinched the gold medal.
All together, 7 teams in Guma local government participated in this year’s competition.
The golden boot and best player awards went to Destiny Ushahemba of Shinning Stars, who netted a total of 5 goals. Tersoo Simon of Vipers FC was awarded the best goal-keeper for his impressive saves.
In the award presentation, Shinning Stars got the gold trophy, Vipers FC took the Silver prize, while Daudu United went home with bronze respectively.
The final match was graced by the Acting Tyoor Mbawa, Chief Oliver Chado, Dr. Nelson Alyebo- Senior Pastor with Christ Faith Bible Church, Benue State, members of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria- PFN, Guma branch, Hon. Frank Utoo- SSA to the Benue State Governor, Hon. Allen Choombu, Sam Waku and hundreds of football fans from Guma and Environs.
Sideline of the occasion was a dance session, showcasing the rich culture of Tiv, the largest single ethnic group in Nigeria.
