HON. KEN ACHABO DIRECTS IMMEDIATE PAYMENT OF WORKERS’ SALARIES AHEAD OF CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS

The Special Adviser to the Governor, Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Hon. Ken Achabo has directed Chairmen of the 23 Local Government Councils in the state to commence immediate payment of workers’ salaries to enable them celebrate the Christmas with their families.
The Special Adviser gave the directive today during the monthly Joint Accounts Allocation committee (JAAC) meeting for December, held at the conference hall of the Bureau in Makurdi, Benue State.
He noted that though, the state has not received funds from the federation accounts, it was necessary to take an anticipatory position so as to pay salaries as soon as moneys hit local government accounts, stressing that the essence of JAAC meetings was to approve expenditures for Local Governments to enable them pay salaries and also attend to other financial obligations.
Hon. Achabo further sent his goodwill messages to Benue Workers as they await the Birth of the Messiah at Christmas.
Responding on behalf of the Chairmen, the ALGON Chairman and Chairman of Guma Local Government Council Hon. Caleb Abba expressed the readiness of his colleagues to comply with the directive of the Special Adviser for prompt payment of salaries to local government workers as soon as funds are made available to them.
Hon. Abba thanked Governor Ortom and the Special Adviser for prioritizing staff welfare and promised on behalf of the Chairmen to complement their efforts in this regards.
