2021 Review: EFCC Records Highest Conviction Since Inception By Prosper Okoye

Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), in its 2021 judicial operations review, won the highest number of (2,220) court cases since its creation in 2003, as a law enforcement agency responsible for investigating and prosecuting financial crimes.
Commending the annual feat achieved by the entire state commands in a recent press release, Chairman of EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa noted that the 2220 figure of convictions recorded is a 127.5% improvement over the 2019 record of 1280, which was the commission’s highest conviction performance prior the new set record.
He further noted that the 2021 record represents a 98.49% success rate in prosecution, as the commission had lost 34 cases in court in the year of review.
Top Three state commands with highest conviction records, were: Lagos command securing 481 convictions, followed by Ibadan with 324 convictions, while Portharcourt zonal command won a total of 230 convictions in court, in 2021.
