Leading the recitation of the State Anthem, Uba maintained that “Benue state has an anthem, and it is mandated by law that as long as you are conducting a function in the State, the Benue state Anthem must be sung.”

The Benue state speaker, commended the leadership and membership of the commision for their continued and determined efforts to strengthen the institutional identity of the state legislature, inspite of the difficult conditions affecting it and very slim resources at their disposal.

“By organizing this administrative development workshop the leadership has passed a clear message that there is a commitment to give democracy a chance, by strengthening the institution of the legislature whose couter-vetting powers is essential to transparent governance, the rule of law and entrenchment of the basic freedom including the right to have a voice in the way they are ruled.” He said.

Welcoming Hon. Uba, the Chairman of the House of Assembly Service Commission, Hon. Sylvester Atachin, applauded the Executive Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, for creating the state House of Assembly Commission.

“By establishing the Commission the Governor has demonstrated that he is a complete democrate.” “The Commision is a symbol of autonomy to the legislature.” Hon. Atachin noted.
