NULGE Gwer West Branch Inaugurates New Chairman

Gwer-West Branch of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, has on Friday, 18th Feb. Inaugurated Comrade Atongo Teryila as its new Chairman.

President of NULGE Benue State chapter, Comr. Joseph Pilaku advised the new chairman to dedicate his time to promoting the welfare of his members, while speaking during the swearing-in ceremony, which was held at the NULGE Secretariat Complex, Makurdi.

In his words: “leadership comes from God, and you have been chosen to be here at this time.

“You are not supposed to be here if not for the demise of the incumbent Chairman. Therefore, I urge you to give your best in service to the benefit of your members,” he said, also urging members of his executives to give Atongo the required co-operation needed to discharge his functions effectively.

Responding after the oath taking administered by the NULGE organizing secretary, Dickson Igbe, the new chairman assured the state executive body, to remain loyal and faithful to the constitution of the Union.

According to Comrade Atongo; “I humbly appreciate the fact that the Union has found me worthy to complete the tenure of my late Chairman, Comr. Donald Adugu.

“I appreciate the support given to me by my colleagues, and promise to abide by the rules of the Union and respect its constitution.”

The NULGE organizing secretary, revealed that Comrade Atongo Teryila, emerged un-opposed on the 15th of February, after the NULGE election screening Committee screened him, and one other member of the Union, who didn’t qualify to contest for Chairmanship position.

Comr. Atongo has been an employee of the local government, for about 15 years. And is to hold the office of Chairman of NULGE Gwer West Chapter, for a period 2 years and 10 months.
