HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY, 2022
Today we join the rest of the world in celebrating women and their incredible achievements and contributions to our nation’s development
Women make up about 49.4% of Nigeria’s population and about 39% of staff at the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). The role of women cannot be overemphasized in our society as they wield incredible power as mothers, wives, leaders, decision-makers, workers and taxpayers. They are homemakers as they bring home income, educate children and influence community decisions. Women are key drivers of economic growth across the world. Their work is immeasurable—especially here at the Service. They are our pillars of hard work, dedication and patriotism.
This year’s theme, “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world”, is significant for us as we reform and build a more resilient tax administration system that makes the welfare, development and growth of our staff a priority. We are conscious of ensuring that women are treated equitably so that they can tap into their strengths and possibilities to achieve the goals and dreams they set for themselves. The world is better when women get the opportunities they deserve.
Today is also a special day to celebrate mothers who devote attention to the upbringing and welfare of their children, while blazing trails and delivering remarkable results at the workplace. You are inspiring!
On this International Women’s Day 2022, we commit to renewing our efforts for a better FIRS that provides equal opportunities for all. A service where staff are rewarded based on their effort, ideas, dedication and hard work. FIRS with equal opportunities is a better FIRS, not just for women but for all of us.
On behalf of the Management of the FIRS, I wish all of us a Happy International Women’s Day, 2022!
