A digital system that enables auto-tracking of staff attendance to work known as Smart Attendance Management System (SAMS) has been launched by the Executive Chairman, Benue State Internal Revenue Service, (BIRS), Chief (Mrs) Mimi Adzape-Orubibi.
The system according to the Chairman replaces the Manuel attendance registers that are characterized with numerous sharp practices, and helps in monitoring the presence of staff at work, and also checkmate lateness to work as it keeps record of the clock-in and clock-out time of all staff captured on the database, which in turn shall increase the effectiveness and efficiency of staff to the organization.
The Chairman added that with the attendance management system other sharp practices such as ghost workers shall be permanently eradicated from the organization as the system requires the physical capturing of all staff biometrics.
On why the system was abandoned by the previous managements after it was first launched during her first tenure, the Chairman said she had no idea why they choose to abandon such a laudable innovation, but stressed that it worked very effectively hence the reintroduction of the system.
The Chairman further called on the heads of the various area offices where the devices are deployed to ensure the safety and security of the gadgets.
The devices have since been deployed to all the zonal and area tax offices across the state, including the headquarters while all manuel staff attendance registers have been faced out.
