IMPEACHMENT: MAKURDI RESIDENTS REACT TO MOVE AGAINST PRESIDENT BUHARI

Reactions have continued to trail the notice served to the president on the security crisis in Nigeria. In Makurdi, some residents say the essence of governance is defeated. According to a political Scientist, Enyi Otsapa, the idea is quite strategic and a welcome development. Though the impeachment might not happen, Otsapa says this is a wake-up call to the president.
Others say it is commendable that the national assembly has decided to do what is right; as enshrined in their mandate. George Iyua Tseen, Makurdi based legal practitioner is emphatic that section 143 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria permits the National Assembly to impeach the president. He however says the minority may not achieve same but the oversight function is noted.
Some of the residents however say apart from security concerns, the National Assembly should also address other problems holding back the country.
Some of the residents like Engr. Andrew Andza and Prince Vitalis Atser are
worried by the growing spate of insecurity in the country. They however say that the national assembly should also concentrate on other equally important issues of national concern.
The minority block in the national assembly issued a six-weeks notice to President Muhammadu Buhari to end the menace or face impeachment. How this ends is a story the Transmitter will follow it development.
