NBA Firm/Institutional Mentorship Committee~

The 31st President of Nigerian Bar Association Mr. Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, SAN in fulfillment of the promise in his Inaugural Address on the 26th of August, 2022 to improve and further effectively reform the NBA including electoral process and to prioritize the welfare and professional development of members, has constituted among other committees the NBA Law Firm and Institutional Mentorship Committee which the President said is set up to design mentorship programmes that will aid the professional development of members of the profession, between 1 to 7 years post-call; comprising of Former Member of Board of Economic and Financial Crime Commission Paul-Harris Ogbole (SAN), Managing Partner Omaplex Law Firm Muyiwa Atoyebi (SAN), and Former NBA Chairman of Lagos Branch, Chukwuka Ikwuazom (SAN)

The Committee is to be Chaired by American Lawyer , Former Chairman on NBA Section on Business Law (NBA-SBL) and Chairman Transition Committee which birthed the outgone NBA administration led by Olumide Akpata with Kemi Pinheiro, SAN as Alternate Chairman while First Female Chairman of Ibadan Branch Mrs. Delayo Oriekun is the Secretary of the Committee.

In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, the Terms of Reference of the Committee are:
Develop the general strategy for engagement and enlistment of interested law firms and
legal departments;
Develop the scope, duration and cycles of the mentorship programme;
Set the criteria for participation (for law firms, law departments and interns);
Design the selection and pairing processes;
Design the program outline, which will include such details as the program expectations
and deliverables, obligations of the firms to the mentees and vice versa, supervisory
role of the NBA, allowances for the interns, etc.
Such other things as may be necessary to achieve the above terms.
