PMS Hike: Makurdi Residents Shutdown Gas Stations

Youths in Makurdi are protesting the hike in Premium Motor Spirit (PMS/fuel) price in Benue State. The Transmitter Media encountered the youths in their hundreds who said enough is enough, as they engaged the major streets of the state capital to register their grievances.

This is not a normal day in Makurdi. The protesting youths, mostly Okada riders and bus drivers have decided to send a message to the petroleum marketers and the government. In what they described as
unwarranted pump price hike. The protesters locked up gas stations, with the condition that no one buys or sales the product
For over two weeks now, price has been between 400 and 500 in the gas stations, they said.
They said they are law abiding citizens, but that they can no longer bear the pains of naira scarcity and fuel scarcity. In all the major streets in the state capital, they ensured that no one buys the product as at the time of filing in this report.
They further made the statement that the marketers are unreasonable in the price hike as they warn of dare consequences, if nothing is done fast.
In the meantime, residents may be forced into more hardships, as the protesters said there is no going back, unless the price is reversed.
