Benue Governor Hyacinth Alia Share Relief Materials to IDPs in Benue State
The governor of Benue State has flagged off the distribution of food and non-food items to our beloved IDPs in Benue State by the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
In a statement at the ceremony which took place at the SEMA headquarters in Makurdi, Governor Alia said “we are deeply committed to the welfare and well-being of every single citizen of our dear state. Our collective strength lies not only in the walls of power but also in the empathy and care we extend to those in need. “The situation faced by our IDPs is not one we take lightly. They have endured unimaginable hardships, and it is our duty, as a responsible and compassionate government, to alleviate their suffering and provide them with the support they need to rebuild their lives.
“Today, we take the first step in addressing their challenges. This distribution of food items is a demonstration of our unwavering commitment to the cause of bringing relief and comfort to our brothers and sisters in distress. But let us remember that this is just the beginning. Our journey to bring them back to their respective communities safely is one that requires concerted efforts, unity, and determination.”
The governor further said modalities are being worked out for the safe return of the IDPs to their ancestral homes.
