UNVEILING THE TASK BEFORE THE NEW COMMISSIONERS IN NASARAWA STATE

Precisely on the third of January 2025, the Nasarawa State Governor Engineer Abdullahi Sule dissolved members of his cabinet including the Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government.
Their dissolution came after serving the State for barely two years.
The governor’s decision to dissolve the cabinet was inline with the provisions of section 192 of the Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution as Amended which gives the governor the power to take such decision.
According to Governor Sule, the dissolution was aimed rejuvenating his administration with a view to injecting fresh blood into the Cabinet towards achieving his visions of developing Nasarawa State.
However, on Friday February twenty one , 2025, Governor Abdullahi Sule sworn-in fifteen commissioners at the City Hall Lafia.
This followed the successful screening and confirmation of nominees by the State House of Assembly as required by law.
In an address during the occasion, the Governor challenged the newly appointed commissioners to shun any corrupt tendencies capable of distracting their responsibilities in line with their oath of office.
While reiterating the commitment of his administration to the principles of accountability, transparency and prudent management of public resources, Governor Sule called on the appointees to shun all forms of sharp practices.
The Governor said the reconstitution of the state executive council has become necessary in furtherance of administration’s commitment to strengthening public service for a more responsive and vibrant leadership in line with the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the State.
Consequently, the governor emphasized the hallmark of his administration demonstrated by hard work, commitment and selfless service.
Engineer therefore reminded the commissioners that Public Service is public trust and tasked them to work towards achieving a more robust development that will be enduring and all inclusive.
At this juncture, it is pertinent to call on the new commissioners to justify the confidence reposed in them by being committed to their responsibilities with a view to achieving the visions of Governor Abdullahi Sule for the development of Nasarawa State.
They must therefore work towards realization of the 2025 budget which is aimed at improving the livelihoods of the people of the State.
Similarly, the new appointees should as a matter of importance establish an effective channel of communication geared towards educating the public of the Engineer Abdullahi Sule’s giant strides particularly in infrastructure, agriculture, health and social support programmes among others.
