MITIGATING THE EFFECT OF JUSUN STRIKE:

EX AGF GETS THUMBS UP AS HE FEELS FOR YOUNG LAWYERS WITH HIS POCKET

Perhaps the most important event of the first quatre of the year 2025 for Young Lawyers Forum under Makurdi Branch is the coming to their aid by Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN. The former Attorney General of the Federation has risen to the moment by bringing succor to members of the forum through the provision of financial support to forty (40) Young Lawyers to alleviate the sufferings occasioned by the JUSUN strike in Benue State which is over four months and subsisting. To this end, the Young Lawyers Forum under the leadership of Paul Iorhemen Terna, Esq has extended unfathomable appreciation to the worthy benefactor.
The JUSUN strike has been drawing outsized attention for more than four months now, starting with back-and-forth negotiations and leading to a strike that has set back the progressive march of the judiciary in Benue state. Yet the executive glare to those working there keeps getting cold.
The Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, who also served as a Minister of Special Duties during the President Yar’Adua Administration, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN, a Fellow of the Dispute Resolution Institute, London extended his hand of support to 40 young lawyers in Makurdi by sending the sum of N20,000.00 to each of them, to cushion the effect of the 5 months Old Judicial Staff Union (JUSUN) Strike.
Elucidating on the need for the gesture, Chief Aondoakaa observed that, it’s tough to overstate just how the protracted JUSUN strike in Benue State has caused untold hardship on many people who have businesses in Courts and that the effect is more strenuous on the younger lawyers, hence his support.
Speaking further, the learned Senior Advocate of Nigeria who is also a pillar member of the Makurdi Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), under the leadership of Terna J. Yaji, Esq. (CNBA) unequivocally called on the Executive Governor of Benue State His Excellency Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth I. Alia, to use his kind heart as a peace-loving man of God to explore all avenues of reconciliation to resolve the issues sustaining the strike so that it can be suspended.
The YLF Chairman in Oliver Twist-manner equally appealed to other Senior Lawyers to emulate this worthy example to assuage the sufferings of young lawyers in Benue State generally.
