The Executive Chairman, Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board, NSUBEB, Dr Kassim Muh’d Kassim has warned contractors handling renovations and building of new structures across various primary schools in the State that he won’t accept poorly done jobs.
The NSUBEB boss stated this Friday, June 20th 2025 during a meeting with all the contractors handling the 2024 matching grant contracts in his office.
Dr Kassim expressed dissatisfaction with the new structures or renovation done a year or two years ago which are due for renovations this year. He lamented “it is a clear indication that the jobs were poorly executed,” adding that he won’t hesitate to revocate any contract that does not conform with the new specifications of the board under his watch.
“This is our state, we don’t have any other state, let’s help our state, let’s help our children by executing quality jobs in our primary schools.”
He said that People with resources in Nasarawa State who can afford to take their children to good and quality private schools are not many.
“We can’t renovate a school this year and slate same school for renovation next year, it’s shows there was no quality job abinitio, we can’t be having 90% of our projects as renovations, let’s also build new schools instead of renovations.
“Please let’s help Nasarawa State, let’s appreciate the huge counterpart funds Governor Sule is paying to access funds from UBEC office Abuja, and desist from the era of our contractors doing sub-standard jobs, I won’t accept that.”
“I won’t pay any sub-standard job done, I won’t hesitate to revoked any contract that does not meet our specifications, this is a new administration in NSUBEB and it’s not going to be business as usual. I will monitor all projects to ensure strict compliance to our guidelines before final payment is made” Dr Kassim said
Responding, Alhaji Turaki Ganji, a contractor who spoke on behalf of the over 30 contractors that attended the meeting pledge to abide by the rules set by the Executive Chairman.
