PLATEAU STATE GOVERNMENT CALL FOR CALM ON SCHOOL CLOSURE
The Plateau State Government wishes to reassure citizens that recent directives regarding the immediate closure of schools across the state are precautionary measures taken in the best interest of public safety and the protection of our children.
In line with communications earlier issued November 21, 2025 by the State Ministry of Education and the State Universal Basic Education Board (PSUBEB), directing Government Junior Model Secondary Schools will close effective Saturday, 22 November 2025, while all Primary and Day Schools will close effective Monday, 24 November 2025. The Ministry of Education has further directed that no academic or administrative activities should hold in any school until further notice.
These actions follow recent emerging security concerns of kidnapping of students currently being witnessed in neighboring states.
While there is no cause for panic, government considers it necessary to adopt proactive steps that guarantee the safety and wellbeing of students, teachers, and school personnel across the state.
Plateau State Government under the able leadership of the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang therefore appeals to parents, guardians, school administrators, and community leaders to remain calm, cooperate fully with all directives, and share verified information only.
The “Time is Now” administration urges citizens to avoid rumour mongering or the spread of unverified reports at this time which could lead to unnecessary tension.
Government appreciates the understanding and patience of citizens, and calls on everyone to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and supportive of ongoing efforts to maintain peace across the state and assure the good people of Plateau State that the situation is under control. Government remains committed to ensuring that peace, stability, and public safety are upheld.
