CONDOLENCE MESSAGE TO CATHOLIC DIOCESE OF MINNA OVER THE DEATH OF VERY REV.FR.GBAKAAN JOHN YAJI.
It is with a complete submission to the will of God that I heartily write to condole with the Bishop, priests, religious and the lay faithful of the Catholic Diocese of Minna over the sudden and untimely demise of her priest Very Rev. Fr. Gbakaan John who was killed by unknown gun men in cold blood at Lambata area of Niger State.
It is pathetic and disheartening to experience this loss due to the poor security network of Niger State and Nigeria at large. This loss would have been averted if the State’s security structure was able to compete with global best standards.
As Kofi Awooner said in his poem; Songs of sorrows. “The affairs of this world are like camelon faces, it changes unexpectedly”. It is on this revelation that we bear in mind that one day we shall all go the way of all mortals.
I wish to cease this medium to challenge and encourage the Chief Security officer of the state, Gov. Alhaji Sani Bello to intensify efforts in revamping and furnishing the security apparatus of the State so as to safeguard the lives and properties of Niger State.
Niger State in the past proudly holds the status of a peaceful and loving State. It was a State envied and hallowed by many far and near, but in recent times the State has become the den and habitat of terrifying atrocities perpetuated by bandits, kidnappers, ritualist and more alike.
Fr. Gbakaan, as young as you where, you fought a good fight of faith, winning souls for Christ in God’s vineyard. As the youngest Dean in the Diocese you where full of life and vigor. I pray that mother Mary received your soul and present it to our Lord in heavenly paradise. And may God console the Bishop, priests, religious, laity and the immediate family especially your poor mother. May your soul find rest with the Creator.
