AMMON BENUE CHAPTER SEEKS PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NIGERIAN POLICE

Association of Mobile Money Operators of Nigeria(AMMON) Benue State Chapter under the chairmanship of Orafa Shedrach today 5th February,2021 paid a courtesy visit to the Benue State commissioner of Police Mukaddas Garba in his office at the Benue state Police Headquarters Makurdi in attempt to seek a long term partnership with the police force.
In his speech, the chairman of the Association, Orafa acknowledged the privilege given them by the Commissioner as well as the efforts of the police in combating crime within the country stating that, the Association has inaugurated its Exco Members which constitutes about 11 persons. “The association is one of the most prominent mobile money operators in the country aimed at mobilizing the digital economy in relation to mobile money operations. However, a lot of challenges confront our activities most especially in terms of security (cybercrimes and false accusation especially where there is a failed transaction or bank charge on a customer) though advocacy and sensitization is adopted, the partnership with the police will help strengthen the operations of the association.” The Chairman on behalf of the Association seeks the protection of the Police and enforcement of Identity verification of customers before transactions and registration of all operators within the state.
In his response, Mukaddas Garba welcomed the association acknowledging that, the business is a good one if harnessed properly is capable of creating a lot of employment opportunities. He further affirmed that, the police are ready to partner with AMMON and render assistance where necessary especially in the area of security to their business and enjoined AMMON to build a strong data base of the Association by being innovative and introducing incentives that will build the confidence of who joins the Association and commends the Association for the initiative to collaborate and partner with the Nigerian Police Force. The Commissioner further directs that, the Association is invited for a sensitization exercise with the officers of the Command on the 8th day of February, 2021.
The Chairman appreciated the Commissioner of Police and his entire team for the attention and opportunity to interact with the command. Those who accompanied the Chairman are the Secretary John Achini, Assistant Secretary, Shehu Muhammed , Social Secretary Alhassan Abubakar and AMMON Legal Adviser Joseph Gbagyo Esq.
