HOPE FOR THE INDIGENTS AS KEN ACHABO LAUNCHES EDUCATION FOUNDATION

The Special Adviser, Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ken Achabo, has reiterated the resolve to sustain the legacies of his late father and pioneer District Head of Mbachohon, Late Chief John Kwaghpelegh Achabo. Hon. Achabo stated this at the official launch of CHIEF J.K ACHABO EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION in Naka, Benue State.
In a representative capacity, elder sister to the Adviser, Mrs. Vicky Tor Abuul recalled the benevolence of their father, Late Chief Achabo for the educational pursuit of young people in his chiefdom; he loved the formal education as reflected in his lineage.
She also said with the commencement of the scheme, the Foundation would explore various areas of sponsorship for different categories of students. Importantly, Hon. Achabo thanked the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom for finding him worthy of appointment in his administration. Ken Achabo further said his decision to launch foundation is not unconnected with Governor Ortom’s humanitarian services.
Mother of the founder, Chief Mrs. Mary Achabo was elated that her husband’s legacy will be sustained through her children. She urged the beneficiaries to cash in on the opportunity with academic excellence.
In his presentation, Chairman of the Foundation, Comrade Robert Dewua said the aim of the Foundation was to start an educational revolution in the area, through various sponsorship programmes. The first face he said was registration of UTME for candidates in the area and sponsorship of students in tertiary institutions across the country.
Two of the beneficiaries, Chia Terna and Akutsa Rita said they were overwhelmed with the programme and prayed for the benefactor. They also pledged their zeal for academic excellence.
Education Secretary for Gwer West Local Government, Kenneth Adeke, thanked Governor Samuel Ortom for appointing a selfless son of the area, Hon. Ken Achabo into his cabinet and assured of the success of the scheme.
Young people numbering about 150 were full of smiles for the opportunity provided by the Foundation. Hon. Ken Achabo aims to change the narrative of the less privileged members of the society.
