HON. KEN ACHABO ASSURES TRADITIONAL RULERS OF BETTER WELFARE: CHARGED THEM TO CLAMP DOWN ON ILLEGAL TAX POINTS IN THEIR DOMAINS

Special Adviser to the Governor, Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Hon. Ken Achabo has assured Traditional Rulers in the State of his support and better welfare to enable them function effectively.
The Special Adviser made this known today during a courtesy call on him in his office by Second Class Chiefs from the 14 Tiv speaking Local Government Areas of Benue State led by the Ter Kyor, Chief Jam Gbinde.
He appreciated the Royal Farhers for throwing their weight behind the Governor Samuel Ortom led PDP administration in the state, adding that he places high premium on the traditional institution having leveraged on proceeds from the royal stool to acquire formal education which has placed him where he is today.
Hon. Achabo also informed the royal fathers that their request for maintenance allowances will be looked into in the first quarter of 2022. He adds that as custodians of culture and authority saddled with the responsibility of maintaining law and order in the society, they should go back and clamp down on illegal check points collecting taxes in their domains to block the leakages in government revenues so as to enable government save money for projects and meet up with other financial obligations.
Responding, Ter Kyor, Chief Jam Gbinde (Konshisha) said, their visit was the first of it’s kind since the inception of the Bureau, done in recognition of the Adviser’s outstanding performance in Local Government and Chieftaincy administrations.
Also speaking, the Ter Gwer Chief (Dr) Dominic Akpe, noted that Hon. Achabo has brought about massive transformation in the Bureau with particular impact on the third tier of Government in the state within his one year in office, especially the prompt payment of salaries, priority on the welfare of traditional Rulers and would always pray for him to succeed in his state assignment.
On his part, the Ter Gboko Chief Gabriel Shosum stated that Achabo was the first Adviser in the history of the Bureau to have them on a courtesy visit owing to his outstanding performance and priority on the revered institution.
Chief Shosum promised to support the Special Adviser in prayers at all times to succeed in delivering the desired dividends of good governance to Benue people at the third tier of government.
