Nigerian’s President, Muhammadu Buhari stressed the importance of Hope and a positive mindset towards overcoming the nation’s Socio-economic challenges in his 2022 New Year address and of being mindful of the “persistent insecurity” in parts of the country that threatens the objective of the administration to place the nation on the irreversible trajectory of Sustainable growth and progress.
Buhari in 2021 declared that the administration had made progress in the fight against terrorism, a milestone on its road of making Nigeria an insecurity free state before may 2023.
“There is no doubt that the issue of security remains at the front burner of priority areas the administration has given utmost attention to, and ‘the net results of these efforts have been the number of insurgents and bandits who have willingly surrendered to our security forces,’ “Buhari said in a social media post.
The President says Nigeria, like other countries hit by the effects of Corona virus is recovering.”The major wins we have recorded can clearly be seen in Nigeria’s most recent Gross Domestic product figure released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). The 4.03% growth recorded in the third quarter of 2021 is indicative of the recovery being recorded in our economy.” This recent growth is closely followed by the 5.1% growth in real terms recorded by Nigeria in quarter 2 of 2021.”
However, he notes that the administration will further diversify the economy; investing more in ICT related areas. To achieve the promises made under the Security Economy Anti- corruption (SEA) agenda, he urged Nigerians to “be United in the fight to keep the Nation United against all odds and with gratitude celebrate life in this new epoch.”
