Transmitter Board Chairman Applauds Catholic Bishop’s Education in Emergency Initiative
The Executive Facilitator and Chairman Editorial Advisory Board of the TRANSMITTER Newspaper, Mr. Nathaniel Msen Awuapila, has applauded the Bishop of Makurdi Catholic Diocese, Most Revd. Wilfred Chikpa Anagbe CMF, for providing free education to children in Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) Camps in Benue State.
The Bishop, His Lordship Wilfred Chikpa Anagbe CMF, has once again lived the life of a good shepherd through provision of scholarship support to Benue IDPs. He distributed scholarship letters to beneficiary IDPs through his pet project tagged EDUCATION IN EMERGENCY, which he domiciled it’s implementation in FJDP in collaboration with the Directorate of Education Services, with support from the Resource Mobilization and Planning Commission of the Diocese.
In his opening remarks during the presentation ceremony, Mike Utsaha Esq admonished all beneficiaries to stay focused and learn to aquire secondary education so that they can grow to be better citizens.
Earlier, the Bishop had intimated that the initiative is birthed out of his reflections on the future of IDPs in the state and called on all to support the noble initiative. Through the programme, the IDPs will be enrolled for secondary education in Catholic boarding schools each session and it is expected that their number will grow in the few years to come.
In their separate remarks, the FJDP Coordinator, Revd Fr Remigius Ihyula and the Director, Catholic Education Services, Revd Fr Terungwa Tor, appreciated the Bishop for the initiative and promised not to fail to live up to the confidence reposed in them regarding implementation of the project. They also advised the IDPs to make the Bishop proud by taking their studies seriously.
The beneficiary IDPs have since resumed to the selected Catholic schools namely Mt St Michael’s Secondary School, Aliade, Mt Carmel College, Makurdi, Mt St Gabriel’s Secondary School, Makurdi, and Holy Child Secondary School Makurdi, all in Benue state.
The event was held at the Holy Child Secondary School, Makurdi, and witnessed by the staffs of FJDP, RMPC, CES as well as principals of all the selected Catholic Secondary Schools.
