Sunset at noon! LIFE AND TIMES OF LATE BARRISTER MOSES AONDOVER JOV
Late Barrister Jov Moses Aondover was born on the 27th day of March, 1965 to the family of Torchiki Jov of Mbaiwen Nanev, Kwande Local Government Area, Benue State. His mother was late Matina Atile Jov. Late Barrister Jov Moses Aondover was the 3rd of 12 children of Torchiki Jov
He attended Fatima Private School Jos in the year 1971 to 1977, he proceeded to Federal Government College Jos in the year 1977 – 1982. He also schooled at School of Basic studies Makurdi in the year 1983 – 1985 (now college of Advanced and professional studies Makurdi CAPS). In the quest to further his education, he attended Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in the year 1985 – 1988 where he obtained a Bachelor of Law Degree (LLB Hons) with Second Class Upper Division. Thereafter, he attended the Nigerian Law School, Lagos in the year 1988 – 1989 where he obtained B.L. and was called to the Nigerian Bar and enrolled as a Barrister and solicitor of the supreme court of Nigeria in the same year.
Late Barrister Jov Moses Aondover worked as a state counsel in the ministry of Justice, Lagos in the year 1990. He also worked with R.N. chenge and Co. Adikpo as a Legal Practitioner in the year 1991 – 1992. He was later employed by the Benue State Judiciary as a Magistrate in the year 1992 and he ran postings in the following areas:
1. Grade 1 Area Court, Tse Agberagba in the year 1992 – 1993.
2. Grade 1 Area Court, Naka in the year 1993 – 1994.
3. Upper Area Court, Vandeikya in the year 1994 – 1995 and later resigned to private legal practice in the year 1995 till date.
From 1995 to 2015, he practiced in the office of Jov & Imbwaseh Law Chambers, Adikpo where he was a founding partner. In 2015 his partnership with Imbwaseh came to an end and he proceeded to practice under M.A. Jov & Co. Adikpo where he was the principal partner till his demise. Until his death, he was the member of the Nigerian Bar Association Gboko Branch and one-time chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Gboko Branch in the year 2011 – 2013. He was the legal adviser, club 15 Adikpo from 2012 to 2022, also the legal adviser, National Association of Kwande Students (NAKS) in the year 2004 to 2022 and Legal Adviser Club of Social Friends Adikpo 2008 – 2022. And also legal Adviser, Aondosoo Oil Nigeria Ltd. 2010 – 2022.
Late Barrister Jov Moses Aondover was married to Doosuur Jov from the family of Jirgba Abugh of Mbapev Shangev-ya Kwande Local Government, Benue State in the year 1993. God has blessed them with five (5) children and they are:
1. Terhemen Vitalis Jov (Alive)
2. Terkuma Michael Jov (Alive)
3. Ngohide Jennifer Jov (Alive)
4. Nguavese Jessica Jov (Alive)
5. Sewuese Josephine Jov (Alive)
Late Barrister Jov Moses Aondover received Christ as an infant and was baptized on the 1st day of December, 1965 at St. Ann’s Parish Adikpo in the hands of Rev. Father A. W. white house Onov. Until his death, he was a member and was giving useful contributions to the church.
He was a great leader and the man of people who could accommodate all even in difficult situations, he at all times would try to bring peace among people and his family members. He helped those in need and this made him to have a team of lawyers in his chambers at every point in time. Many of the Lawyers he molded while alive have found placement in strategic places in the legal profession.
Late Barrister Jov Moses Aondover had not shown any sign of ill health until sometime in May, 2011.when he was diagnosed of diabetes and heart problems. These eventually led to his death on the 15th of January 2022.
