“Fight Against Drug Abuse is Everyone’s Business ” _ NDLEA

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)Benue State Commander, Mrs. Musa Esther Lami has called on the state management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), to assist the Agency in the areas of public enlightenment and campaign against drug abuse.

This call was made on Tuesday, 8th Feb. during a courtesy visit at the NYSC Benue State Coordinator’s office Makurdi.
Speaking, Mrs. Musa said the meeting was aimed at informing the Coordinator, Mr. Abe Dankaro about the Agency’s forthcoming program tagged” War Against Drug Abuse(WADA).

According her, the event which is scheduled for 23rd February this year, is aimed at enlightening the public on the dangers of drug and substance abuse amongst youths.
Responding, the Coordinator, Mr Abe Dankaro who welcomed the guests warmly promised maximum support from the NYSC.
“As an organization which has youth empowerment as part of it mandate,” he opined that “drug abuse is one of the causes of insecurity and unrest faced in the state.”

He further informed the NDLEA state Commander about the NYSC Trust Fund Bill, which is aimed amongst other benefits to ameliorate post service unemployment and dependence, which triggers post service frustration and eventually leading to drugs and substance abuse.

A Highlight of the visit was the decoration of the Coordinator as WADA (War Against Drug Abuse) Ambassador.
