Chairman, Benue State All Progress Congress, (APC), Comrade Austin Agada, on Tuesday charged party members in the state, to promote the party’s ideologies in their respective constituencies; which would enable the Party to wax stronger, and become ready to take over the reins of state political affairs.
“We must stick to the Broom Revolution, and take the APC message to our people in the grassroots. We must continue in our mission to sweep Benue state into a clean state,” he said.
Comrade Agada gave this charge while delivering an inaugural speech, at the APC Benue State Executives Inauguration, held at City Bay event center Makurdi.
Further speaking, Agada regretted what he called the “unimpressive outing” of APC in the 2019 state elections. He assured that the new administration will take all necessary step, which will include power rotation, to ensure victorious results in the next state elections.
In his words: “We are not oblivious of the vexed agitation for power rotation among the two major ethnic blocs as being championed by some interest groups here in the state and outside the state.
“The issue of power rotation is based on equity. We need to approach it in a friendly manner using round table negotiation as brothers and sister.”
The APC state chairman expressed his apology to those members of the party that are aggrieved after the party executive positions contest. Describing them “as partners in progress,” he commended their courage and interest to participate in the affairs of the party, albeit an opposition party in the state.
Agada assured that the newly inaugurated executives “will be clothed with humility and will be open to all members of the party for any suggestions, engagements and collaborations that will move the party forward.”
Thanking the leader of APC in Benue state, Senator George Akume, and the members of the party for electing him and his excos for a period of fours years, he appealed that all party members should go to work to ensure that Akume emerges as the National Party Chairman.
Chief Mrs Regina Akume who also spoke at the occasion, encouraged the party members to maintain peace while carrying out intensive political activities.

She advised that “as Benue state indigines, Benue state is our only home.”
The mother of APC Benue state as she was described said: “Go out and don’t make trouble, the whole state is coming back to APC, and I am telling you before May this year, you are going to see wonders.”
Mrs. Akume appreciated her husband, Senator Akume, and described him as a young man that has showed great leadership capabilities. “Tell him that, if I come back to this life 20times I will always choose him as a husband,” Mrs. Regina said.
The Inauguration planning commitee Chairman, Steven Lawani, said the inauguration was historic.
He commended the efforts of the past excos, and called on the new executives to brace up for the task ahead.
“We all heard the rumours going on in the state lately, that our party executives will not be sworn in,” Mathias Byuan, who was the Guest speaker at the occasion noted. He continued, “but by the grace of God, our state chairman was sworn in at Abuja recently, and today we are gathered here to swear-in the entire excos.”
Mr. Byuan who is also gubernatorial aspirant, opined that the people of Benue state is dissatisfied in the PDP led administration; “as a result of the non-payment of salary and pension arrears.”
“The people are crying, that is why we have large crowd of defectors from PDP to APC,” Byuan claimed.
Terlumun Ikyo, another governorship aspirant, however said the leadership of the state since its creation, have done their best; the rest is left for future leaders to take Benue state to better development state.
He also expressed optimism in APC to bring the desired development, as shown by the Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government.
