THE PRACTICAL THINGS YOU CAN DO THIS LENT
1. You can decide to do little savings throughout the forty days of lent. At the end, you give the money to someone in need or pay someone’s school fees or house rent or medical bills.
2. You can go through your wardrobe, select clothes and shoes you have not worn or used for sometime now. Wash and iron the clothes very well and polish the shoes to give them to people. Let it be something that you will be proud of.
3. If you are fasting and you decide to skip meals, you may give the food or money to someone in need. Fasting from possible ungodly habits that you are aware of is highly recommended at this time too.
4. You can make it as a point of duty to attend Mass throughout this Lent. You may also say your rosary each day. It may not be easy at the beginning but just try. Push yourself to do something sacrificial and time consuming for Christ’s sake.
5. Many young people are jobless and idle. You may remember and help one or two to get employed if you are in the position to do so.
6. You can decide to moderate your social media time. You can choose a particular time to come online. It is important you reduce intake of secular info’s into your soul and focus on spiritual ones too.
7. You can decide to visit the homeless or elderly or sick or imprisoned. You may do it once or as often as possible throughout the five weeks of lent. You don’t need to go with your phones to take pictures. Just enjoy your almsgiving and hospitality in silence.
8. You can decide to be the cleaner in your house this season. Cleanliness they say is next to godliness. Keep your house clean. You may do the laundry of yourself, spouse, your siblings or parents without them asking. Charity begins at home. Do something you have not done before.
9. You can revisit promises and commitments that you may have made in the past and have not been fulfilled for reasons best known to you. Discipline yourself to learn to be good and to be truthful to yourself and others at all times.
10. Try to trust God. Try to believe that God loves you and He will not fail you. Stop your attitude of running from one Church to another in the name of seeking for miracle.
Visit the Blessed Sacrament always instead of moving from Church to Church.
Please remember to Pray for other brothers and sisters who need our prayers always and encourage them too in anyway you can.
Happy Ash Wednesday and Welcome to Lenten Season.
God Bless You For All You Do.
