OGUN STATE SETS RECORD WITH THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF UNIVERSITIES IN NIGERIA

Ogun state is located in the Southwest region of Nigeria with headquarters at Abeokuta. The state was created on the 3rd of February, 1976. The name Ogun was derived from the old Western State of Nigeria and named after the Ogun River which runs from North to South. By Census 2006 statistics, Ogun State had a population of about 4 million persons. Abeokuta, the capital and largest urban centre, is about 90 kilometers from Lagos and 740kilometers from Abuja, the capital of Nigeria and the state is known to be a manufacturing hub as it is hot to many manufacturing companies.
Ogun is bordered to the East by Ondo State, in the North by Oyo and Osun State and in the South by Lagos State and in the West by Republic of Benin, which makes it an access route to the expansive markets of the Economic Community of West African State (ECOWAS).
THE TRANSMITTER conducted a research which proves that Ogun state has the highest number of universities in Nigeria, be it public school or private university , according to the ranking by the National Universities Commission based on information available on the official website, Ogun State has the highest number of Universities that offers Bachelors, Master and Doctorate Degrees in various fields of study.
