
2022/2023 LEGAL YEAR: CHIEF JUDGE APPLAUDS JUDGES OTHERS FOR UNCOMMON DEDICATION

The Chief Judge of Benue State, Justice Aondoaver Kaka’an has lauded the judges, magistrates and judiciary staff for what he calls “uncommon dedication to work produced in the success we recorded in the past year.” This is contained in his address at the opening of the 2022/2023 annual Law week, held in Makurdi, Benue State.
The erudite University of Lagos trained Jurist, who hinted about his retirement also mentioned achievements and challenges encountered under his watch in the state.
He said “the High Court recorded 15, 734 criminal and civil cases out of which 366 were disposed of, while 15, 358 are still pending.
“1,268 Motions were recorded with 439 disposed of, leaving 829 pending. Out of the 100 cases of Fundamental Human Rights entered, 39 were treated and done with, while 61 are still pending.
“The Magistrates and Area Courts registered 10, 458 criminal and civil cases out of which 1,537 were disposed of. A total of 8,921 criminal and civil cases are still pending at these courts.
” Similarly, 501 Motions were recorded in these courts and 220 thrashed and dispensed with, leaving 291 pending,” he said.
The CJ further appreciated Gov. Samuel Ortom for a considerable number of infrastructural and man power upliftment over the years.
Justice Kaka’an also thanked the Bar and the security agencies for cooperation recieved thus far.
He paid tribute to members of the Judiciary who have fallen in the past year and appreciated their honest contributions.
CJ Kaka’an finally thanked all the resource persons, organisers and every stakeholder as he formally declared the Week long activities open.
