2022 Benue council polls: PDP flag bearers emerges
Ahead of the May 7 2022 Benue Local Council Elections, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearers in the 23 local government areas of the state have emerged. This was sequel to the party’s congresses and primary elections held on Tuesday, May 7, 2022 at the Ward and local government levels.
Publicity Secretary of the party, Bemgba Iortyom in a statement on Thursday, described the exercise as peaceful and successful.
The statement read, “the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State has successfully conducted its congresses/ primary elections at the Ward and Local Government Area levels of the state, pursuant to fielding candidates for the May 7th 2022 Benue Local Council Elections”
“The exercise held on Tuesday, 8th March, 2022 at which emerged Councillorship Candidates of the party in the 276 wards of the state and 23 Chairmanship Candidates”
“The Chairmanship Candidates are as follows: ADO – Ogaba James Oche; AGATU- Peter Ngbede Joseph; APA – Mrs Amali Auchi Victoria; BURUKU – Mrs Judith Moze; GBOKO – Mtom Isaac Terkuma; GUMA – Ubah Mike Nyiekaa; GWER-EAST Mrs Agatha Sewuese Akua; GWER-WEST – Andrew Ayande
According to the statement, others include, KATSINA-ALA – Atera Alfred Avalumun; KONSHISHA -Mrs Amile Christiana; LOGO – Mrs Salome Shiden Tor; MAKURDI – Mrs Eunice Torbunde; OBI – Akpa Anthony Ogbu; OGBADIBO – Aba David; OHIMINI – Akatu Stephen Adakole”
The statement listed others as USHONGO -Mrs Gajir Nyieii Veronica; OKPOKWU – Mrs Amina Audu; OTUKPO – Eje Bako John; TARKA – Ade Nguhar; VANDEIKYA – Alexander Tyonongo Terver; KWANDE – Gbande Orjiir Ornguga; UKUM – Kartyo Tyoumbur; OJU – Mrs Okne Evelyn Ichiko”
It also revealed that the party commended its members for their peaceful conduct during the exercises and for their show of gender sensitivity through which emerged an unprecedented 9 women among the 23 Chairmanship Candidates while urging all its candidates, stakeholders and supporters to proceed with intensive campaigning towards winning resounding victory at the council polls and to keep them in shape for the 2023 general elections
I’m glad seeing a good representation of women emerging as flag bearers. This tempo should be maintained as I look forward to all women emerging winners.
