CAMBRIDGE FC OF GBOKO AND HONEY BADGERS FC MAKURDI EMERGE CHAMPIONS IN ESLF FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

The wife of the Benue State Governor/Founder, Eunice Spring of Life Foundation, Eunice Ortom has expressed commitment to continue to engage the Benue youth for talent hunt.
This statement comes at the grand finale of the 2022 ESLF football tournament held at the Benue State University, Makurdi.
In her address of welcome, she said the aim of the initiative was to promote grassroot talents to greater opportunities that abound in the present day sporting world. She also uses the occasion to galvanize advocacy against Female Genital Mutilation. What she calls harmful practice against the girl child.
On his part, Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom commends his wife’s dedication towards youth and women empowerment. He says he was impressed with the initiative and the outcome thereof.
Minister of sports Sunday Dare (represented), Technical Advisor of the Super Eagles -Austine Eguavon, VC of Benue State University Prof. Tor Iorapuu, Sports promoter/philanthropist Benjamin Omale, former Super Eagles Coach James Peters, Former internationals Emmanuel Babayaro and Tijiani Babangida among others, unanimously applauded the concept.

The 2022 edition of the ESLF football tournament was won by Cambridge football club of Gboko after a 1-0 victory over Avail FC of Otukpo while in the female category, Honey Badgers FC of Makurdi emerged victorious over Logo Queens of Ugba, through penalty shootouts, after the game ended goalless.
Crowd of sport enthusiasts, politicians and supporters of the First family graced the occasion in their hundreds. There was also a colourful performance by the award winning Benue Art Council troupe.
