BIRS HOLDS PARLEY WITH FRSC AND VIO TO STRENGTHEN COLLABORATION

FRSC with BIRS team during the collaboration meeting

The Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), on Thursday, April 7th, 2022 played host to the Benue command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and state officials of the Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO), at the headquarters of the service in Makurdi

The tripartite meeting discussed among other issues the challenges of the three organizations in their existing areas of collaboration.

In her opening remark at the meeting, the Executive Chairman of the service, Chief (Mrs) Mimi Adzape-Orubibi represented by the Board Secretary, Mr. James Shankyula said the meeting was necessary so as to discuss challenges and fashion out ways of improvement so as to enhance the efficiency of the operations of the organizations.

The chairman emphasized that the FRSC and VIO are important partners of BIRS in her revenue generation business hence the need for regular meetings.

In his own remark, the Benue sector commander, FRSC, Corps Commander Muhammad Yakubu, appreciated the Executive Chairman for the meeting, and also thanked her for the recent donation of brand new chairs to the driver’s license unit of the FRSC to ease the challenge of inadequate seats for people waiting to be captured for biometrics.

Commander Yakubu said his command was willing to collaborate more with BIRS to boost her revenue generation profile, and as well carry out joint enforcement operations on number plate registration, renewal of vehicle particulars and other areas of interest.

On the recent breakdown of the signature pad that caused delay in the processing of driver’s license, the sector commander apologized to the service and the general public, adding that a new device has been provided and fully operational.

The sector commander also promised to look into the complains of poor picture quality on processed license and the delay in delivery of processed license with the view of addressing them among other issues.

While making his contribution at the meeting, the head of Vehicle Inspection Office, VIO, in the state, Engr. Joseph Deayav, commended the working relationship of his organization and BIRS and called for greater synergy so as to be able to achieve more.

The meeting had in attendance management staff of the service.
