NBA PRESIDENT VISITS NBA MAKURDI;
ADVOCATES FOR A HARMONIOUS AND UNITED BAR
The 3rd Vice President of the Nigerian Bar Association T. T. Igba Esq. yesterday being the 16th May, 2020 paid an official visit to NBA Makurdi.
Receiving the Vice President were all the Executive Committee Members of the Branch save one of the co-opted Exco Members, also present to receive the Vice President on behalf of the Executive Committee of the Young Lawyers Forum Makurdi Branch was the Secretary G. I Tseen Esq.
While Welcoming the Vice President, the Chairman of the Branch J. K. Ishember Esq. remarked that ordinarily, he lacked the vires to welcome a personality who served the Branch as a Financial Secretary, Secretary of the Branch, later Chairman of the Branch and now 3rd Vice President superintending the entire Branches of the NBA located in Northern Nigeria. Nevertheless, speaking as Chairman of the Branch, on behalf of the Makurdi Bar J. K Ishember welcomed the 3rd Vice President to his home branch.
After an extensive interaction with the Executive Committee members of the Branch, the Vice President appreciated the developments recorded in the Branch thus far in the area of instituting a formidable welfare scheme, furnishing of NBA secretariat as well preparations towards the ground breaking ceremony for foundation laying ceremony for the building of the NBA Makurdi House and called on the Executive Committee to remain steadfast even in the twilight of her administration.
Also speaking on the Voter’s List published by the Elections Committee of the branch, the Vice President informed the Executive Committee of the Branch that the misunderstanding has received the attention of the National Secretariat and a policy statement shall be released soon to address this and similar challenges already witnessed in other Branches of the NBA across the Nation. He stressed that the input of the National Legal Adviser is being processed to birth the anticipated Policy Statement. The Vice President sued for calm on the vexed issue noting that we are one big family – Nigerian Bar Association.
Appreciating the visit on behalf of the Branch, the Secretary P. T. Aande Esq. thanked the Vice President for sacrificing his comfort by undertaking such a timely visit before the end of the present administration in spite of the dreadful spread COVID-19.
The visit which started at about 10.12 am came to an end with a closing prayer offered by the Learned Legal Adviser Olufunke Shankura Esq. at 3.17pm Nigerian time.
